Mediation

Dobbins and Venick attorneys are experienced in representing clients in mediation. Two of them, Irwin Venick and Irwin Kuhn are specially trained and certified as mediators under Rule 31 of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Irwin Venick is certified for general civil cases; Irwin Kuhn for general civil cases and for family law disputes. Mediation is a very effective process in which people or companies with disputes attempt to resolve their differences without going to court. Mediation often helps keep down the cost of litigation by resolving differences early, without the expense of preparing and trying cases in court. Perhaps most important, mediation reduces the uncertainty of trial and allows parties to reach their own decisions. When they work as mediators, Irwin Kuhn and Irwin Venick do not act as attorneys for a party in the case. While their experience as attorneys helps parties evaluate their cases, they are neutrals who do not give legal advice. The American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section created an excellent overview of mediation.
